So, out of 30+K thats about
So, out of 30+K thats about .4% right?
Not too bad all things considered.
Bars were concerned
I was at Patriot Place on Friday night, and there was a pre-Chesney buzz going on - we didn't even know about it 'til we got there. Talking to the wait staff at one bar, they were really concerned about the anticipated rowdiness of the concert, saying that this concert is many times worse than any football game. Looks like they were right. ;-)
Of course concerts are worse
Of course concerts are worse than football games. The people who go to Patriot's games are mostly regulars, not once-per-summer partiers. With the prices of tickets today, the days of "let's go to a game and get hammered" are mostly over.
What if this had been a hip hop concert instead?
Assuming that Foxboro (the town that banned Michael Jackson) would even allow such a thing ...
What's the deal with "Foxborough"....
Which Globe calls Foxboro in its sub-headline?
Same deal as....
Southboro/Southborough, Northboro/Northborough, Marlboro/Marlborough - take your pick.
Don't any of these have.....
..."official" spellings?
Foxborough is the official spelling
In fact, I think 'borough' is the official spelling of all these towns, except for Attleboro.
The town is Foxborough. The
The town is Foxborough. The stadium was called Foxboro in the past.
Ah ha!
Thanks all.
What if this had been a hip
I'll bite - what if?
Yeah Adam, _what_ if?
Are you implying that hip hop fans would have been more rowdy and that would have led to more arrests, or that there would have been more arrests irrespective of the degree of rowdiness?
Hip Hop?
If this were a hip hop concert I'm sure the headlines would have a far more negative spin.
Here's my .02:
I recently went to Rock the Bells at The Comcast Center/Tweeter Center/Great Woods.
Of course there was plenty of drinking, but never in my life have I been around so much blatant weed smoking both on stage and off.
The staff knew better than to hassle smokers; they would have been wasting their time and there wouldn't even have been an audience if they actively kicked out every pot smoker.
As far as I know, the day ended without incident.
I didn't see any fights, or even anyone acting inappropriately or getting out of line (unless you consider weed smoking acting inappropriately).
This is notable considering how diverse the crowd was in every way (especially when compared to a country music festival).
Have the authorities finally come to the conclusion that pot isn't nearly as destructive as alcohol?
God, I hope so.
At the very least, we should be able to conclude that large groups of people consuming marijuana are less of a liability than large groups of people consuming alcohol.
Also...
(I'd like to preface this by stating that I don't even drink alcohol)
There would be far fewer people outside of venues drinking and tailgating if the price of a beer didn't magically jump up to $8 when they walk through the gate.
