Somebody drove a Tesla Cybertruck all the way from Washington state to Allston, parked on Comm. Ave. near Harvard and immediately got boxed in, as a roving UHub reporter out for a stroll discovered this morning. She reports she did not pour any water on it.

So, uh, when was this photo taken? Is it possible the truck's still there? Asking for a friend (and his bucket).

But even if it still somehow escapes its current confines (I am curious - was the final boxing in done by the car in front or in back?), it's been floating up and down that stretch of Comm Ave for about a week now.
Now that would have been mean

Actually it starts at only $60,990 and will be even cheaper next year. And has a “wade” mode that lets it drive through rivers

That's good, because car washes and sand are a bit too much for it.
No direct sun? Is it a gremlin (not the car)

"Cybertruck’s owners manual does caution against ever washing the truck in direct sunlight". I know there's a nostalgia factor for something that looks like what people in the 70s thought the future would be, but it just looks it's trying so hard.

Better photos of its greenness, making it look like it was thrown together out of layers of cardboard painted green.

It's long for a car, but is still not as long as a Toyota Tundra, Suburban, or F-150 with an 8' bed.

Not a car or a Truck as it really can't perform any of those requirements without complaining.
Maybe it can compete with the bearded lady side show?
Washington Plate?

Looks like a Washington plate. Not surprising as Washington has been heavily promoting and subsidizing electric vehicles via hefty tax breaks and rebates for a decade or so now.
Would be interesting to see if it made the trip or if this is a graduation gift or something.
Saw my first IncElCamino in the wild when bike commuting the other day, but that had a MA EV plate on it. Passed it on the Rt. 16 bridge - it was stuck in the usual evening traffic like everyone else.
Also, can't they just swivel their wheels and pull out sideways? I mean, for the price and the hype they should be able to do that.
it's so cute Adam thinks it was driven from WA...

...and not that the plates were shipped through the mail by someone's relatives so they could avoid paying excise tax, insurance, and registration fees here.

Have you seen what Washington charges for taxes on a new vehicle?
They don't have income tax so they have the most regressive sales taxes in the nation. The combo of state, county, and local can get pretty absurd.
People from my HS class that moved north of the border do everything they can to license their vehicles in Oregon, including putting their parents on the title. But the incentives on electric cars in WA likely overcome that barrier.
My bet is that it was a grad gift and the 'rents are taking the tax breaks.
6.8% is barely more than MA at 6.25%

The state sales tax isn't the entire sales tax - you forgot the local and county taxes on top of that - MA doesn't have those.

Looking at the map, the cheapest county is still 8%! I guess I can cross Washington state off the list of potential places to live.
