*postponed*, not cancelled,

*postponed*, not cancelled, according to the Globe. If anything this is good news for candidates whose names aren't Menino, as coverage of a debate tonight would have been swept far to the side in local news. Much better for Boston to wait and let it be front page in its own time.

Thanks for pointing that out; I could've sworn the story said "canceled" when I saw it, but I could also be losing my mind.
OK, I'm not losing my mind

According to the McCrea's blog - tentatively trying to reschedule for next Wed. Same bat channel, same bat time.
Good news?

Maybe better coverage, but that assumes they will be able to get the debate rescheduled. There had been so much wrangling over the debates in the first place, so I'm skeptical.
I have no idea what the candidates think about how this impacts them, but personally, I think going forward with a debate is a much more fitting tribute to Senator Kennedy and the Kennedy family than foregoing it.
I agree with Francesca!

I agree with Francesca! Kennedy lived for the debate to make our world a better place to live. It would be fitting to carry on with the debate and remember him at the outset.

LAME
Kennedy was an advocate of Democracy! Let the debate continue on and use some time at the beginning and end to allow for a memorial.

The candidates have suspended campaigning due to Kennedy's death so this was an obvious move. McCrea says on his blog that all the candidates agreed.

On a day when Sam Yoon and Michael Flaherty's campaigns took a step back and did not campaign, Mayor Menino's supporters did the only thing they know how to do. Not to mention the fact that this clearly blocks the other candidates signs, couldn't they have shown Kennedy some respect and waited to do this? But I guess this makes sense since Menino thinks it's all about him...
