Cambridge Day reports how Cambridge firefighters, DPW workers and Animal Control teamed up - with the help of an olive-oil donation by a nearby resident - to free a raccoon that somehow got stuck in a sewer grate on Harvey Street in North Cambridge today.

Talk to anyone who has had a raccoon issue with their trash. No matter what you do, the raccoon is smarter and will bypass anything you do for food.

I've done bits of support work for wildlife medicine and rehab and they are devious. Some of them could probably figure out how to escape from a cell at the Supermax. El Chapo has nothing on raccoons.

That's a youngun - one of the newly released litters. Usually mom kicks them out and the roam for a bit with their sibling packs getting into trouble while learning their way on their own. Not usually this much trouble.
So glad people still have empathy and kindness.
