Knife-wielding would-be moped thief gets beaten up and pinned to the ground by the moped's owner in Allston, police say

Boston Police report arresting a 17-year-old they say was the leader of a pack that tried to steal another guy's moped in the area of Lee's II Market at Commonwealth Avenue and Allston Street around 11:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Police report the victim did not willingly give up his moped, not even after the teen showed a knife. In fact, police say, the victim grappled with the would-be moped thief and first got the knife away, then took him to the ground and kept him there even as the guy tried to use his insufficient fists of fury to punch his way out of the hold. When officers arrived, at first on a report of a large fight:

Officers observed the victim holding down the suspect and he was immediately placed into handcuffs.

Before he was taken down to the D-14 station for booking, he required attention from EMS because he was bleeding from the face. The victim declined medical attention, police say.

The teen, too young to have his name released, was charged with being delinquent for armed assault with intent to rob, police say.
