My answer is yes, the T , at least on the Ashmont Line from Dorchester to various downtown and Cambridge locations, it is much better. They eliminated the Ashmont slow zones although a couple of small new slow zones appeared recently.

They're working on the Braintree line, where several horrendous slow zones have existed for a while.

Yes, the old trains still feel and sound like they are going to fall apart, but at least we have 2 trains with new cars. And the elevators still smell like urine, or a combination of cleaning fluid and urine. Some escalators are on again off again.

But the basic task of moving riders from point A to point B without slow zones has improved a lot.

If all of these gains have to be lost due to budget cuts, it will be worse than not having made the improvements at all. Let's keep the T funded!

Or did I get sucked into another dimension where the T runs great, yet I am still looking like a sack of potatoes?

Jokes aside.. The T has gotten better, compared to the previous two years. It still has issues, but nice not to go 5mph between Sullivan and Community College.
