So emblematic of contemporary Boston Massachusetts. This monstrosity offends no one. (Save for our inner artists.) Can you imagine the beautiful Reverend King standing larger than life, or 1:1 in bronze on the Common? This work honors the artist not the subject. This work is self-congratulatory.
Maybe this version of “The Greendale Human Being” typifies the thinking and lack of courage of some civic leaders, but even if “The Embrace” expands symbolically beyond Mrs. King, honoring the man with a proper statue would embrace for more meaning than this blob.
