What is about the green line that makes people think it is ok to grope/rub up against girls. My first two years in undergrad I commuted on the D line to and from Boston and someones crotch "accidentally" rubbed up against my bum more times than i cared to remember. It always happeend when we were packed like sardines.....
It's cuzz of them dang librels in New'in an Brooklyne lettin all this go on and sich. That's where that gubner Ducockis lives y'all, he ain't puttin no crimnils ta jail, he let out that Willie Horton to do the same thang on the subwai.
The Green Line inbound to Boylston is one of the most rickety stretches of subway line in the United States. Therefore I want to withhold judgment on this as a "groping".
I also happen to know this man who is accused of supposedly "preying" on a 15-year old girl. He happens to be the father of one of my best friends. I have spent many nights in his family's house and I never felt in any way threatened. He is a very respectable man and great doctor who has become a victim of the American system. His career will not be in ruins. This will be an embarrassment for him in the short term, but in Romania, where he is from, this will be an embarrassment for the United States.
As a student at an all women's college, I fully support women's rights and I agree that it is necessary to have more laws to protect women from predatory males and we need to continue to educate people about the inappropriateness of sexist behavior. Indeed, I want to bring many feminist ideas from the US to places like Romania. But, not mistakes like these. Unfortunately, as in many cases in the United States people like "Rhea" overreact and presume guilt based on blind ideology and sometimes innocent people get hurt.
Is that enough for you? Did they somehow all "overreact".
I think you are overreacting to a fantasy world in your head.
Spare us the "I know this guy" business. That jerk who was pawing Boston Latin students was "known" by his neighbors too.
The only mistake being made here is your assumption that women are just too uppity about being touched inappropriately and bystanders are blind. That and your belief that attacking someone physically is merely sexist ... it isn't sexist, it is assault. If he had felt up some young man, it would be assault, too. And I don't give two shits about how "respectable" he is either, or how he's never creeped you out - you ever hear of how "respectable" priests molested children for years? Stop the entire Boston area if we have heard these lame excuses before.
Mistakes are made, but there is more than just a he/she said going on here. The comment about "American women just overreact" made me want to puke.
Besides, I have seen nearly the same exact "story line" in comments on several blogs today. Looks like a coordinated effort to paint women as oversensitive and the doctor as somehow above reproach.
Like this whole city hasn't been through the whole line of thinking for years now, even with Cardinal Law in exile.
that the whole 'I know the guy and he would never do [fill in the blank' is ridiculous. Everyone knows murderers, rapists and subway fondlers -- whether they realize it or not. It is not enough to 'know' someone.
Thhe guys a train riding pervert, whose meeting were over so he figured he'd cop a feel. To bad the did'nt keep him in the can longer, then maybe someone could grab his ass for a while!
What sexual abuse can go on in a train full of people? The girl says she felt her butt being touched from behind. That's probably all that happened and all she experienced. My thoughts go to what kind of home situation a girl like this may have? Why is she scared silly from a butt touch? The normal thing to do would be to assume it's a mistake and remark that you don't like to be touched - harshly if you feel like it.
One of my family members actually knows the doctor professionally. She received an email where her colleague told dr. Baloescu had fallen on a teenager on the rickety line. He has diabetes and could well have felt dizzy.
My reaction to all this is that the USA is a backwards country where the earth is flat, evolution is denied, violence is considered entertaining and 15 year old girls have no comprehension of what is sexual and what is not. Is this really a way to protect women or is it a legal trap feminists have fallen into? I suggest the latter. This paranoia is not protecting anyone.
Listen up. Unwanted touching is sexual abuse. Period. We teach kids this in the US because lamers like you like to make excuses for "important" pervs and a lot of kids got hurt. See also "clergy sex abuse scandal boston" in google. That they carry this into adult hood is a good thing. That people bear witness to this and don't clam up is doubly good, and speaks to the inappropriateness of your friend's behavior.
There is a local senator who stands accused of similar misbehavior who happens to be a longtime friend of both myself and my husband. The earlier allegation was a "she said, he said" and thus he was cleared of charges because of the presumption of innocence absent evidence. Now that new issues have surfaced, this time with witnesses, we are gravely concerned about his mental deterioration and physical health - but we do NOT try to "blame the victim for being hypersensitive" or otherwise reclassify it as anything other than what it is: INAPPROPRIATE, SEXUAL, AND UNACCEPTABLE.
You say you are concerned that it was an accident due to medical issues. Fine - here is the huge difference: We also refrain from making up bullshit about how the victim(s?) "must be mentally fucked up because they don't like being groped by a perv" and some such. You out yourself as someone who doesn't believe that women have any right to their own bodily autonomy when you get into that shit. Seriously. Can you get any more patronizing ... like suggest she should one day be denied suffrage because she's, you know, hysterical?
And we all know how "unrepressed" women are in Romania, how they have the agency to speak up and speak out against rape, oh yeah. Do you really want to go there? Huh? Or do you simply deny any form of abuse, intimidation, humiliation and even rape exist unless men think it does?
I know that when I'm feeling a little dizzy, I always like to grab a firm pair of buttocks to help keep myself from falling. Grabbing on with both hands helps a lot!

Two reasons
1) undergraduate females
2) high school females
Both seem to be more common on the green line, for obvious reasons.
or maybe, just maybe,
or maybe, just maybe, because it's the most packed line on the entire system?

Excellent news
Men have got to stop preying on women and girls. I hope this guy gets his ass deported and finds his career in ruins.

Three witnesses corroborated the girl's version of events

This is why we have a justice system
No, it doesn't sound good for this guy, but it's not like police, prosecutors and, yes, witnesses, have never made mistakes before.
I agree
