District A-7 reports two men walking walking back from Chelsea on Condor Street were jumped by three guys around 11 p.m. on July 26.
One of the thugs put "a large kitchen knife" up to one of the victim's throats and grabbed his wallet and cell phone and a gold chain from his neck. The other two attackers occupied their time by throwing the other victim to the ground and beating him.
Two of the muggers are described as white Hispanic males, between 25 and 30. One had a "shadow" beard, was about 5'6" and had a muscular build. Victims were unable to provide a description of the third attacker.

Does anything happen worth reporting in East Boston happen these days besides daily muggings?

Plane lands at Logan. Some moron tweets they're going to Eastie to get some Santarpio's. Someone gets mugged in Eagle Hill. Maverick station still under construction.
Depressingly steady drumbeat of incidents

Non-rhetorical query: what can/should the police do right now to increase safety in that section? It can't be a question of just numbers (presence) since there can't be a uniform on every corner forever... what's going on?
Is there a drastic increase

Is there a drastic increase in incidents or is it just being reported more often for some reason. I am seeing more incidents in Eastie then in any of the other "dangerous" areas of the city.
Good question

I think it might be partly due to the fact that District A-7 is doing a very good job posting reports. Take a look at the latest BPD stats and, at least based on absolute numbers, A-7 seems to be doing well compared to some other districts in the city (to get a fairer count, you'd probably need to come up with a per-capita ranking).
But still, jeez - there seem to be an awful lot of knives in East Boston. I don't seem to recall so many knife-related incidents in South Boston, at least based on the reports C-6, which seems to do a similarly comprehensive job with info (but not on as regular a basis as A-7).

One thing that bothers me is the repeated MS-13 references. This gang needs to just be wiped off the map. Of course its easy for me to say that veiled behind my screen name but I really do wish someone would put them all in jail they seem to be a driving force behind recent crime.

Yes, but people like to continue to beat on the Eastie is wicked dangerous drum. People don't focus on the good things besides Santarpio's and it seems like a lot of their immigrant hatred comes out against this neighborhood.
However, I do not know where else you would get great Peruvian and the best Mexican food in the state. Or get sweeping views of the city. Or be able to eat donuts on a beach while watching planes take off and land, which is quite fascinating (or at least it is to me).
Fair point, but I think most are aware that Eastie

has more going for it than a good pizza place. I almost moved there in aught-6, though admittedly I was looking at the other end of the neighborhood.
The reported attacks are especially disturbing considering the relatively small size of the neighborhoods in question; if I were a resident I think I'd have to be worried, unless they are not random, but targeted because of the gang involvement.
I'm just curious as to what type of approach will be taken going forward.

So your expectations have been beaten down so low that you just accept stabbings and beating on your neighborhood streets as the cost of getting good ethnic restaurant food? Personally, I'd prefer a McDonald's on the corner to great Peruvian food and thugs with knives wandering the hood.
