Gunfire erupting repeatedly at Harbor Point
District C-6 reports three recent incidents involving guys shooting up the Harbor Point development in Dorchester. So far, nobody's been injured - but at least one bullet ended up inside somebody's apartment.
On June 27, around 11:40 p.m., police recovered 13 shell casings after receiving reports of gunfire - and found one bullet inside a residence on Peninsula Road. One witness told police he saw two black men run into the Bayside Expo Center parking lot and drive away in a black Civic.
Around 12:20 a.m. on June 27, witnesses reported two groups of black men got into an argument that both sides attempted to end by pulling guns and firing. One group ran towards the JFK/UMass Red Line stop; the other group sped away towards UMass in an older silver car. Police recovered 18 shell casings and one live round.
On June 25, around 11:15 p.m. police arrived at 15 Westwind Rd. to find a 2000 Jaguar XK8 with several bullet holes. Officers recovered five shell casings and two live rounds. Witnesses reported two black males fled in a black Pontiac G6 with a spoiler.

gated community
HarborPoint is a gated community and they have their own security force...how does this happen?
Not a gated community
The Harborwalk runs alongside it and you can walk into any part of the development from there. It also looks like several public streets go into the development from Mount Vernon St.
Gated for vehicles only
The streets inside the development aren't public, and one has to go through the security booth to drive in (but not walk in).
I found out the streets are most definitely private when my car got damaged by their unusually tall speed bumps. I called city hall and they said it wasn't an issue for city street maintenance since it's all private property, but was an ISD code enforcement issue.
Also
They recently started asking for you to show ID when entering and have started checking the name/address where you say you are going against the resident log. Until a couple months ago, one could just pick an address and say they're visiting the Smith family, and the security people were fine with this. (Note: I don't know this from sneaking into Harbor Point to shoot the place up; several times I've been a member of a team assessing a child, and the intake person has only given us the address and not the name, or no apartment number.) At other developments, like the Blue Ledge apartments, the security person actually calls the family before letting you in (unless you've given them a letter that, say, you have a toddler with autism who gets visits from several therapists and aides each day, and please just let them all in without bothering the poor parents.)
But what good is a semi-gated community?
I don't see the point of asking drivers of cars for IDs, when anyone can just walk in (or bike in) from the Harborwalk or UMass-Boston or the Red Line station.
Gated Community and Security are a total sham
I heard from a resident of 65 North Point that his car got vandalized really bad on 28th(Monday) evening in Harbor Point parking lot that is close to Bay Expo. The management expressed utter indifference and took no responsibility and didn't even want to share details on the shooting that happened over the weekend and said this vandalism is the first incident. They said it's as safe as it would be living anywhere on Dorchester Ave or other parts of Boston(Roxbury, Dorchester). The whole idea of Gated community and having Security is a sham. BayExpo side had been a source of nuisance for the past few weeks and multiple people had informed Security about it, only to be ignored by them saying Bayside is beyond their jurisdiction and now all this shit happens. It's a shame! I am out of here in the next few months and everyone should really think well about their continued stay here.
Bayside Expo Center is now owned by UMass-Boston
so complaints about 'nuisance' activities there should probably go to UMass security.
Mostly owned by UMass?
Did they get the office building and the hotel as well?
More like Boston Police.
More like Boston Police. UMass is totally useless.
I live at harbor point and I
I live at harbor point and I have seen a lot of black males come off in cars at the Bay side expo recently. The management would not be bothered as it is not something they can do. Although the security has been pretty good these days over there including the Harbor Point security doing rounds in the night.
black males
cuz all black males are criminals shooting off guns rite?
Wu Tang is for the children
I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but I've been out in the point for a few years and I can't believe these comments about gated communities and needing more cops out here, do you all realize that 10 15 years back that this was the worst project in the bean? Noticing black males coming out of cars at bayside -this is dorchester man, if you're scared go to newton
