Guy shows up at polling place with loaded gun, points it at officers before tossing it in the air
Boston Police report arresting a man who already has two gun-related convictions on a variety of charges for an incident that started outside the Jackson-Mann School around 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
Police say officers working the polls were alerted to a possible fight or armed robbery outside the school. When they rushed outside, one officer chased a suspect - only to narrowly avoid being run down by a second suspect on a bicycle, whom police say took off toward Ringer Park. Police lost track of the first suspect - who apparently discarded a knife, his hat and his shirt on Brighton Avenue.
Police say officers found the bike rider on Glenville Avenue, where, police say, he ditched the bike and a large knife. And then:
The suspect stumbled and fell, regained his footing and fell a second time in his haste to avoid apprehension. As officers approached, the suspect now sweating profusely and appearing visibly apprehensive, reached into his pocket to remove an unknown object. As the suspect reached into his pocket, officers immediately believed the suspect was attempting to remove a weapon. Fearing immediate death or serious personal injury, officers ordered the suspect, at gunpoint, to remove his hand from his pocket at a distance of 10-15 feet. At this point the suspect regained his balance, turned away from officers and withdrew a silver-colored firearm from his pocket. The suspect then repositioned his body and began to make an outwardly menacing gesture by raising the firearm shoulder high in the direction of an officer. The suspect then proceeded to make a sudden and evasive motion by swinging his right-gunned hand in the opposite direction of the officers. The suspect then threw the firearm up in the air landing behind him.
Darryl Barboza, 28, of Allston, was then arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon and assault by means of a dangerous weapon (gun).
Barboza was arraigned this morning in Brighton District Court on these charges and for being an armed career criminal because of gun convictions for incidents in 2002 and 2004, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Judge David Donnelly agreed with prosecutors to hold him in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Innocent, etc.

He discarded his hate?
Does that make this a hate crime?
Because he wanted to turn his life around
Or I made a typo. OK, I made a typo, fixed, thanks.
What an ass

That sounds like it easily
That sounds like it easily could've played out a lot worse. Kudos to the officers for handling it without having to shoot.
