Gunfire shatters early morning silence on small Roslindale street
By adamg on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 8:51am
Police are investigating reports of five to eight shots fired around 1:40 a.m. on Seymour Street. Police recovered some shell casings from the scene.
In December, a man with two cocaine-distribution convictions was murdered not far away on Rowe Street.

woke me up
I live in the area and heard at least 5 rapid (pop-pop-pop-pop-pops) at that time and saw police in the area within minutes. Listened to some of the details on my scanner. Seems like someone was firing into the air. Not sure if they actually arrested anyone. What is happening to this normally quiet area of Roslindale?
CRAZYNESS
I actually live on ROWE street, so the day the found that guy in the honda, it was in front of my neighbors house..3 houses down -__-. last night while in my living room I heard one shot, however, it sounded extremely close.
has been happening lately...
I have been hearing the sound of gunfire for the past couple of weeks at night time. But the sound of them this time around was LOUD, woke everyone up in my house up.

heard something a few weeks ago too
Around 11pm one night in early May or so just after going to bed I heard one loud BANG very close by. (Cummins/Brown area). I wish I had called the police then but never heard or saw anything afterwards. I wonder why the increase lately in this area (Rowe St homicide, Arborfield house shooting, Seymour St shots).
Are there neighborhood watch groups around here?
I'm definitely concerned enough after last night to want to contact the police and become a part of a watch group if one exists. Anyone know anything on who to contact?
Watch Groups
Contact community services liaison Kerry Egan at Area "E" police at 617-343-4560 to be placed in touch with your nearest group, or learn how to bring one together.
The group that is located in the area of the Rowe Street shooting (Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association) met with the police after that incident but has been generally quiet in recent years since area development has waned.
The Seymour/Rowe Street side of the railroad is Area "E-5" handled out of the West Roxbury PD station. The Hyde Park Ave. side is Area "E-18" handled out of the Hyde Park PD Station
