Another man shot to death in Boston
Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis via NorthEnd.Patch:
This is how Americans feel about criminal background checks:
This is how Americans feel about assault weapons and high-capacity magazine ban:
But wait! Are there really 23 senate Democrats who oppose this popular legislation?
We wont know unless Senator Reid names names. Could this be what's really happening?
Statistics would help your case
Over the past 10 years, how many murders were committed in Boston using high capacity magazines or "military-style assault rifles"?
If the answer is "none", then how is it that banning these weapons is going to make anyone safer?
How many "Assault Rifles" were used in Boston murders?
Oh that's right, none that I can recall. If you can show me one instance, I will be impressed. Why would you think hassling guys that legally own AR-15's is going to stop kids in Boston from shooting each other with handguns?
Please don't generalize
"Kids in Boston", because growing up in Roslindale/West Roxbury (im in my 20's) i have never met i White Irish who has shot another human. Bottled, hit with a bat, kick in the face, beat unconscious; sure but never murdered someone. NEVER!
WTF
"Bottled, hit with a bat, kick in the face, beat unconscious; sure but never murdered someone."
Yeah, you guys are a class act.
And most black kids who grew
And most black kids who grew up in Roxbury or JP or Dorchester can say the same; they have never met anyone who has killed someone. Likewise, just because you don't know them doesn't mean that there aren't Irish folks killing people; ever heard of this guy?
Now, there is a higher crime rate among the black population, and a higher murder rate. But beware of sloppy thinking where you equate "higher rate" with "it's all this one group" or "all of this group is this way".
Isn't Whitey Irish ? I'm just
Isn't Whitey Irish ? I'm just saying
Bulger comment is irrelevant.
I have to say that the Bulger comment is extremely irrelevant and uneducated. The obvious issue is the distribution of illegal firearms to the city's youth. As a public servant, firearm owner, and a purebred Bostonian, my opinion (because in reality, that is all it is), whether we like it or not, illegal gun trade is a reality on the streets, and it is a difficult situation, especially if it is "straw purchases". Of course firearms should be tightly controlled and sold to responsible owners, but playing the devil's advocate, these "right" people (if you will) have the right to the Second Amendment as an American, and God forbid a terrible situation, that a good citizen who is a gun owner, protects an innocent bystander from imminent harm, yet alone their own family from an individual whos intentions are outright terrible..
