Four men with a shotgun burst into North End apartment

UPDATE: One suspect arrested. Also changed some of the details in this post based on the police report.
Shortly before midnight, four men - one armed with a shotgun and one with a knife - broke into an apartment on Endicott Street near Cooper. The gunman fired his shotgun; the occupant was not hit.
Three of the men were described as black, wearing dark clothes. One was white, in his 20s, wearing a dark gray hoodie.

I didn't hear the initial response (alas, don't have the scanner on all the time), but heard the updates as the investigation began.

Guns happens in the north end and no one wants to comment. But if this was Dorchester people would had been all over it.
Not really
Gums happen in Dorchester and most of my posts get no replies, except for the odd "If this would have happened in the Back Bay, people would be all over this" (and, of course, your basic racist stuff that I don't post).
Plus, most people have better things to do early in the morning on a holiday weekend than to try to figure out what to post in reply to some depressing bit of news that probably doesn't directly affect them.

Nailed it Adam. I'm self admittedly one of the people who gets annoyed to see 100+ comments on a train being late, and only 2 when urban violence rears its ugly head in the same inflicted neighborhoods.
You do such a good job of covering everything for us, don't let a bozo like that guy above detract you. I legit laughed when I read his comment. He said the complete opposite of what happens with these posts.

Gonna go out on a limb here and suggest this was drug or underground gambling related and not random.

Sounded like the victim just didn't have a description of the fifth guy.

It's not just search warrants that can get the address wrong. Competing drug dealers can get them wrong too.

Such an uncommon story. Wow. What sort of resistance did they expect? Not the weapon of choice today. Then there is the guy bringing a knife to a gun fight - what was he thinking?

It was, as you surmised, four men, not five, and only one had a shotgun - the one who was arrested and who fired the shot, right into his foot. I've updated the post and linked to a new post on his arrest. And, yes, drugs were the alleged reason.

Home invasion
People, keep in mind that IF someone enters into you're home NOT invited, with violent intent, you can KEEP or KILL said persons. Years ago as a young child growing up in the north end, somone actually did in fact break into our apt. Instead of calling the cops, we decided to simply "keep" the asshat. We took possesion of him and used him as a work mule for several years. After almost 11 years, we sold "Lebron" to some whacko quack doctor that attempted to surgically swap Lebron's head with a Dalmation. Sadly, Vito the dalmation did NOT survive the procedure. Also, Lebron didnt make it. We had a full honor funeral for Vito, not a dry eye to be found. Vito's remains were used to heat a garage.
