Police seize more drugs, sawed off shotgun in Roslindale

Seized items.

Boston Police report gang-unit officers arrested a Brown Avenue resident and seized a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, cocaine and marijuana yesterday afternoon.

Police say Dion Smith, 23, of 127 Brown Ave., faces charges of trafficking Class B drugs, possession of Class D drugs with intent to distribute, possession of a sawed-off shotgun and possession of a sawed-off shotgun with an obliterated serial number.

Police say gang-unit officers initially went to his home around 4 p.m. to try to arrest him on a warrant out of Attleboro District Court.

The seizure came the same day drug-unit officers arrested a resident of the Roslyn Apartments on Clifmont Street on charges of illegal possession of guns and ammo and possession of heroin.

Innocent, etc.

Sadly, whenever BPD announces these huge busts and shows off the loot, it doesn't look like a lot to me. It's great if they get a gun off the street, but it looks like a very small dent in a week's earnings for these guys, and maybe a day or two worth of heroin. So how effective can these small busts really be?

That's a huge leap to make that just because I don't think small busts make a dent or need to necessarily be photographed and announced (because the amounts are not that impressive), I think heroin should be legalized. Check your overreaction there, buddy.

There's no heroin in this picture. The guy had cocaine and weed.

That should tack on some years in theory.
