Police: Impromptu Roxbury stakeout snares two teens for gunpoint robbery of food-delivery guy

UPDATE: Bail set at $10,000 for the guy; girl ordered to house arrest except she can go to school, Suffolk County DA's office reports.

Boston Police report an alert sergeant noticed a potential setup for the robbery of a food-delivery guy on Cheney Street yesterday evening - in a neighborhood that's seen a spate of such robberies - and decided to see what happened.

Police say his instincts, and his decision to find an inconspicuous place to lay low and watch - were right: When the food guy got ouf of his car and headed to the apartment building at 63 Cheney St., where one teen was already standing, another teen rushed up and the two went after the deliverer:

The sergeant then observed the male suspect suddenly pull out what appeared to be a semiautomatic firearm and point it at the driver while stating “don’t (expletive) move or I’ll shoot you.” At this time, the sergeant came out from his position of cover and ordered the suspect to drop the gun. The two juveniles immediately began to run in different directions. The sergeant focused his attention on the male suspect armed with the gun while calling for back up. The sergeant was able to apprehend the male suspect after chasing him through several backyards, finally stopping him in a side yard of a home on Crawford Street.

Other officers found the other teen and arrested her as well. Recovered: one Walther CP99 pellet gun.

Both now face arraignment on charges of being delinquent for armed robbery. The male teen was also charged with being a minor in possession of a pellet gun, police say.

Is that the cop was able to catch this kid. The kid probably knows the neighborhood like the back of his hand and is younger and I would think probably more spry. Awesome job by that officer!

... and the kid doesn't.

This is incredibly impressive. He's a sergeant so he's probably quite a bit older than the cops he supervises and he was still able to display the poise, bravery and athleticism to chase down kids a quarter of his age.

Uh, juveniles work out. I did. A lot. Were you lazy in your pubescent years?

The sergeant is probably well into his 40's. And was able to chase him through multiple backyards AFTER seeing him rob someone with what, at the time, he probably believe was a REAL firearm.

Your disdain of cops is abhorrent.

Umwut? That doesn't mean that THIS teen works out.

Oh, and I only had ten varsity letters in three sports, so, yeah, totally sedentary.

While you are in full-on anon moron mode here, how exactly is saying that the cop works out so he can professionally run down a teen perp "disdain"? Explain?

"Oh, and I only had ten varsity letters in three sports, so, yeah, totally sedentary."

I just legitimately laughed out loud. Are you really bragging about your supposed athletic accomplishments anonymously on the Internet?! On a blog about a cop doing a great job chasing a criminal?! In said blog, in which you critiqued the cop?!

I'm not laughing with you.

Or a copy of my yearbook? I actually can prove it. 4 for swimming, 4 for track and field, 2 for soccer.

Sorry, but that's how trailer rats get into top colleges, silly. Funny how people like you yammer on about "people just need to work harder to succeed blah blah", then constantly cut down those who actually manage to do that.

Go back to smoking dope behind the mini-mart and thinking you are cool, though.

I'm never gonna make them work, am I?
The internet overlords, aka The Algorithm, saw fit to advertise pellet guns, is what the screenshot is supposed to show.
