Worker at Dorchester program aimed at getting kids out of gangs and into college is shot

College Bound Dorchester reports one of its employees is recovering after being shot at its 222 Bowdoin St. location around 3 p.m. yesterday.

In a statement, Mark Culliton, CEO of College Bound Dorchester, said:

We have since learned that his condition is stable, he is recovering and we are incredibly thankful for that. We do not have any information about why or how the shooting occurred. We know that the investigation underway. We remain committed to our work and to the day in the near future when incidents such as these are a thing of the past. It is with this resolve that we move forward. For now, we are focused on supporting our staff and students, and we have counselors available for them. We are grateful for our network of community partners and friends who have reached out to offer comfort and support.

College Bound Dorchester works with young people in gangs or with criminal records to get them into local community colleges, such as Bunker Hill Community College and the Franklin Institute.
