hmm
Not sure...
...why you're referencing those rentals.
Those #s on Saratoga St are on the opposite end of that street which runs a few miles and put those apartments in the Orient Heights area - an entirely different vibe from the square and it's activities.
Seville Luxury Housing
But directly across the street from the site of this fracas is the brand new Seville luxury housing. I'm sure the rich people moving in there are loving this (sarcasm).
The only way to keep crime
The only way to keep crime like these away from central sq , they would have to demolish and turn Payless shoe store , monte christo, dunkin donuts, citizens bank , and Santoro's demolish that whole fucking block and redevelop it all into luxury condos , which will never happen.
Santoro's...
...hasn't been there in years.
Yea , but for those who have
Yea , but for those who have lived in Eastie long enough still call it Santoro's..
when the rents arent affordable
i make sure my jokes are
City needs to crack down on
City needs to crack down on these late night hole in the wall establishments that serve alcohol in that area of Bennington/ Saratoga / Border street Central SQ areas , too many bars located in one concentrated area of the neighborhood.
Bennington street near the parking lot where the Starlite bowling alley use to be has about 3 bars and one liquor store an area which has seen multiple stabbings in the past several years.
Not a safe area for any yuppy to be around at any time of the day.
Jamaica Plain has much more
Jamaica Plain has much more gang violence than Eastie, JP has always been in the news, and still JP continues to gentrify, evidence that a community can still thrive with all kinds of criminal activity around them. So be patient and hang in there East Bostonites once Central Square Park in East Boston is completed it will no longer be a place for gangbangers, alcoholics, and drug addicts to shoot up heroin hang out at like in previous years.
What makes you think it will be any diifferent?
"once Central Square Park in East Boston is completed it will no longer be a place for gangbangers, alcoholics, and drug addicts to shoot up heroin hang out at like in previous years."
What makes you think it will be any different just because they are renovating it? Will the zombies and drunks say "it's too clean now, I won't go there anymore"? When the Greenway went up on Atlantic Ave and they renovated that whole park area on the the convenience store side of Atlantic, the same old homeless/druggie crowd moved right back in to their nicely upgraded digs. I'm not sure how it will be any different in East Boston's Central Square. As a kid in the 60s I remember old drunk Italian men in that Central Square park, and in recent years it has been drunk and zonked out Latino men and zonked out middle aged women. The demographic changes but the behavior remains the same.
Damn yuppies
Ruining Eastie.
Has little to do with real estate...
...and everything to do with arithmetic.
"If one man was stabbed six times, two men were stabbed twice each and one man was stabbed three times, how many stabbings were there in total?
Also, maybe MC Slim can tell us how good that restaurant is. People are dying to get in.
Also, maybe MC Slim can tell
Cue the obligatory but pointless Licensing Board investigation in 3, 2, 1 .....
Should Have Added...
...that, YUP, Eastie isn't what it used to be...no doubt about that.
Hmmm
On 8/21/16, a person was stabbed on Warren St in the South End.

According to a quick search on Zillow, there's a property for rent right next to there for $4,500 a month.
On 7/5/16, a person was shot at 647 Harrison Ave in the South End.

There is a building very close to there that is offering 1-bedroom apartments for $2,900 a month.
On 9/26/16, a person was shot on Newbury St.
http://www.universalhub.com/crime/20160926/man-shot-newbury-street-early...
Right in that area there are two 2-bedroom units for rent for $4,200 and $5,800.
What's my point? There is crime all over Boston, no matter the neighborhood and how much people will pay to live there.
Uh..
Comparing Newbury Street to Eastie.....c'mon now. Look at all of the violent crime & murders that have happened in Eastie this past year.
