Transit Police report they are looking for a man they say spat in the face of a bus driver "without provocation" at Eutaw and Meridian streets around 5:45 p.m. on April 2.

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded around 5 a.m. to 430 Meridian St. in East Boston for what became a six-alarm fire that killed one resident. Read more.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Pomona Cafe and Wine Bar is looking to open its third Massachusetts outlet at 18 Meridian St. in Maverick Square. They'll start out with coffee, smoothies, salads, sandwiches and grain bowls, then add alcohol if they can get a liquor license.

A decision by the mayor's office to approve two marijuana shops less than a half mile apart - in potential violation of a city ordinance - sparked an unusually volatile Zoning Board of Appeal meeting today, during which the board chairman slammed his gavel to the table to restore order at one point, not long after he yelled at a city councilor that she was out of order. Anthony's Market, 407 Meridian St., was held up around 10:15 p.m. by three Hispanic men in Halloween masks, who fled in a gray Dodge SUV. They may have held up a liquor store on Eastern Avenue in Chelsea, on the other side of the Chelsea Street Bridge, earlier in the night.
