Police say drug-unit officers on an assignment in the area of Acadia and Adams streets around 11:15 a.m. yesterday when:

Officers made observations of an individual who they believed exhibited behavior consistent with a person carrying a gun. Additional officers from Area C-11 were called in to assist as the Drug Unit officers attempted to stop the suspect. He continued to resist and fight the officers until he eventually was placed into handcuffs. Recovered from the suspect was a loaded Smith and Wesson Lady Smith 32 Magnum revolver.

Pight was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with altered serial numbers and assault and battery on a police officer, police say.
