Two arrested after Mattapan gunfire
Boston Police report officers investigating a report of gunfire on Leston Street, off Woolson, shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday found two guys in a red car matching the one described by a witness nearby on Blue Hill Avenue:
Officers approached the males, later identified as 25-year-old Jeff Lacroix of Mattapan and 34-year-old Corey Hinds of Boston. Lacroix and Hinds exited the vehicle without being asked and approached the officers at the front of the vehicle. Based on the description provided and their close vicinity to the shots fired, officers believed the males may be armed and conducted a pat frisk of the males and the area around them. Additional officers conducted a canvas of the area and recovered a spent shell casing from the ground. As officers handcuffed the males, Lacroix lifted his leg causing something to fall from his pants. Lacroix then attempted to kick the item away from his body, and the officers confirmed that the item was a live round of ammunition.
Police say an officer also found a gun with obliterated serial numbers underneath the passenger’s side of the car - and an additional live round in the car's center console.
Lacroix was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and trespassing. Hinds was charged with unlawful possession of ammunition and trespassing.
Innocent, etc.
