Why?
The Transit Police used to patrol and ride buses through the neighborhood why did they stop riding buses?
So many reasons. One being $$
So many reasons. One being $$, the T hacked the public safety budget which is much less than 1% of the T’s operating costs. The department came up with a new money saving patrol plan several years ago. This has resulted in a lack of train & bus riding or undercover presence (staffing). The result of a lack of police work has resulted in a lack of crime stats, which plays out to the public that crime is down!! Hooray!! In reality the patrolmen haven’t had a contract in over 4 years, morale is at an all time low, and no one from the Governor on down cares
Crime on the T
If you are correct about the MBTA lying about safety and crime on the 'T' and indifference from the Governor's office this could be a bigger issue than the scandals involving the State Police.
They thought there might only
They thought there might only be reasonable humans on the bus. Why wouldn’t they?
Outcomes?
What was the outcome for those involved? This is our bus commute to and from daycare with a toddler and infant in arms.
