Dorchester gas-station attendant murdered in robbery attempt, police say; suspect arrested

Updated, 9:50 a.m., Sunday.

An attendant in his early 60s at the Fabian gas station on Washington Street at Melville Avenue was shot during a robbery attempt around 11:35 p.m.

Boston Police report the man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

A short time after the shooting, police stopped a man on Dorchester Avenue and Centre Street who matched witnesses's descriptions of the shooter.

Kevin Williams, 21, is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday in Dorchester Municipal Court on murder and other charges.

WCVB reports the victim was Jose Luis Phinn Williams, whose 68th birthday would have been Monday.
