Police: Dorchester man gets into argument while holding a rifle loaded with 23 rounds

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man they say was making points in an argument last night while holding a loaded rifle on Centre Street in Dorchester.

Police say officers responding to a report of a loud argument involving four men outside 381 Centre Street, near Adams Street, shortly before 8 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect coming out of a driveway and due to the nature of the call, officers placed the male, later identified as Paul Brown, 33, of Dorchester, into handcuffs and searched him for any weapons that may have been present.

Officers were able to locate a rifle leaning against a chain link fence in the driveway. The Mossberg International 71ST, .22 caliber long rifle had a magazine containing 23 rounds of ammunition.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device and carrying a rifle or shotgun on a public way, police say.
