Police say they broke up an armed robbery near Faneuil Hall
Boston Police report arresting two men they say stuck up a third man and forced him to make an ATM withdrawal near Faneuil Hall early Saturday.
Police say Nicholas Noel, 18, and Rafael Cruz, 19, pointed a gun at their victim at Merchants Row and Chatham Row shortly after 1 a.m., forced him to make a withdrawal at an ATM and were still pointing a gun at him in a doorway at State and Congress streets when officers on patrol spotted them:
Officers observed an unknown object in the hand of one of the two males and that the third male appeared to be frightened. As officers exited their cruiser to further investigate, two of the males quickly walked away while the third male walked towards the officers identifying himself as a victim of an armed robbery.
Both suspects were apprehended within minutes and positively identified. Officers recovered a loaded 9mm High Point C9 handgun from one of the suspects. Officers also recovered property, including a wallet and credit cards, which belonged to the victim.
Cruz was charged with armed robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, police say, adding Noel was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and witness intimidation.
