Two charged with beating man in Mattapan Square robbery

Boston Police report arresting two men they say beat and robbed a third last night after they asked him for money and he said no.

Police say the victim came out of the CVS at 1573 Blue Hill Ave. shortly before 9:20 p.m. when the two asked him for some money and that when he refused the request, one of the two threw him to the ground and began punching him:

The victim stated during the assault, one of the suspects grabbed his wallet and stole his money. The victim stated the second male pointed a black object believed to be a firearm at the victim during the assault and robbery while stating that if the victim did not give the suspects his money, he would shoot him. The victim stated he fled towards the bus stop where the suspects chased him.

Police say they found Thurman Ragland, 53, of Hyde Park, who was the alleged puncher, on River Street, and Ra’Quan Baker-Parham, 24, of Brockton, and the alleged gun pointer, inside the Mattapan House of Pizza on Blue Hill Avenue. Both were charged with armed robbery, police say. This is not Baker-Parham's first run-in with Boston Police.
