Police at the crime scene on Washington Street.
A person was shot on Washington Street in Roslindale near Haydn Street shortly after 8 p.m. The homicide unit was called in due to the severity of the victim's injuries.
On July 31, a man was shot in the head in the parking lot of Nick's pizza and liquor stores, about a half block away.
On June 15, somebody was shot nearby on Mercedes View in the Washington-Beech development.

One of the centers of police action last night was Washington St. and Haydn St. which the police, on their radios, kept referring to as Hay-den rather than Hi-den. I guess it's too much to ask for more of that kind of culture in the police reform bill.

Actually if you're from here its hay-den; if you just like classical its hi-den.
If that's your biggest beefs with the cops

based on the common term "police culture" and the term culture as applied to the arts. It was not meant as a commentary on the way they do their jobs.
That said, I am in favor of additional oversight, mandatory body-camera usage, a requirement for certification, additional training, and more scrutiny of how they earn their pay and overtime.

So the original Beech St. projects were torn down because they were an eyesore and crime-ridden. And were replaced by these nice townhouse units. Brand new. And there is still crime. You can take the people out of the projects, but you can't take the projects out of the people....
