Man shot somewhere south of Grove Hall; didn't wait for police or EMS

Sometime before 1 a.m., a man was shot somewhere south of Grove Hall. A friend picked him up near the B-3 police station at Blue Hill Avenue and Morton Street, then drove him up to Boston Medical Center. In Grove Hall, a police officer on patrol found out somehow and escorted the car in. The homicide unit was called in due to the severity of the victim's injuries.
