Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old they say was walking around the area of Norfolk and Babson streets in Mattapan with a gun loaded with 14 bullets - and seizing eight dirt bikes - Friday night.
Police say that around 7:15 p.m., drug-unit officers "observed the suspect approach another male while lifting his sweatshirt and revealing what appeared to be a firearm."
He then observed them and ran away, police say:
The suspect fled the area on a scooter and was located in the rear of 6 Almont Street in Mattapan. At the sight of officers, the suspect fled on foot and could be seen discarding a firearm onto the ground. He was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest. The firearm was determined to be a Stoeger 9mm with one round in the chamber and thirteen rounds in the magazine.
Officers also recovered eight motorized scooters found to be in violation of City Ordinances as well as a second loaded firearm which was determined to be a Glock 17 9mm with twelve rounds in the magazine.
The teen was charged as delinquent for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with; Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
