Man who claimed to be a cop robs and tries to rape woman at gunpoint in Dorchester, police say

Boston Police report arresting Charles Singleton, also known as Charles Zimmerman, on a number of charges after he allegedly forced a woman he'd met at a party to have sex with him in a deserted field early Saturday and then, when she started to scream, beat and robbed her.

According to police:

The victim stated that the two had recently met in the area following a social gathering and that the suspect claimed to be a police officer before offering to give her a ride. The suspect then drove with the victim a short distance to a nearby field at which time he suddenly produced a firearm while ordering her to exit the vehicle and walk towards the darkened field. The suspect then began to grope the victim while making threats to kill her if she did not comply with his instructions which were graphic and sexual in nature. When the victim began to scream, the suspect physically assaulted her before taking her purse and her cell phone. The suspect then fled back towards his parked motor vehicle where he was located upon the officer’s arrival.

During their investigation, the officers located and recovered the victim’s purse as well as a discarded .45 caliber Taurus firearm equipped with a laser sight near the suspect’s vehicle. Additionally, the officers were able to recover the victim’s cellphone during a pat frisk of the suspect as they were placing him in custody.

Singleton was charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to rape, indecent assault and battery, intent to rob while armed and unlawful possession of a firearm, police say.

Innocent, etc.

I don't think he's related to Bob Dylan.

… of the ideal man? Can’t imagine what prompted this comparison unless you’re hinting at the other famous Zimmermans. It’s not actually that unusual a name.
Noting so for a friend ….
