Man stabbed inside Mass and Cass shelter; suspect arrested

Boston Police report a man was stabbed in the back and shoulder at the city shelter at 112 Southampton St. around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say officers stationed outside the shelter rushed in and quickly arrested Alexander Aulet, 40, of Fitchburg, on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Can other towns, all of them in fact besides Boston provide shelters please so Boston doesn't end up with such a large concentration of the needy....maybe someday

He probably didn't come to Boston expressly for the shelter.

But if all towns and cities had shelters and support systems less people would come to Boston needing help and the numbers would be much more manageable making successful treatment more likely.

Tell me you've never been to fitchburg without telling me you've never been to fitchburg.

Fitchburg is awful about this. Its one of the more harder hit towns outside 495 by the opioid crisis outside of the city centers like Lowell, New Bedford, etc.

when I last visited, compared to other small city centers such as the two you mentioned, Lowell and New Bedford. Lots of empty storefronts.

won’t tolerate the open drug use and distribution, the open prostitution, continuous criminal activity, and physical violence that Boston is willing to accept.

If you are not willing to enforce laws, don’t complain about your neighbors that do.

Many surrounding towns also provide shelter and addiction services.

If other cities and towns in the Commonwealth provided shelter and other necessities for their own needy residents, it would place considerably less of a burden on Boston.

I still think that if other cities and towns here in the Commonwealth should share the burden of sheltering their own residents in need, so that the shelters in Boston would not be so overcrowded.
