Man was tooling around East Boston with a fully automatic ghost gun in his waistband loaded with 23 bullets, police say

Boston Police report arresting an East Boston man on gun and drug charges after pulling him over on St. Andrew Road shortly after 3:10 p.m. on Friday.

Police say officers on patrol spotted a white BMW that they knew was wanted by A-7 detectives as part of an unspecified ongoing investigation. They queried the person to whom the car was registered, and discovered he did not have a license, so they pulled him over.

An investigation followed which resulted in Officers recovering a firearm from inside the operator’s waistband. After the Operator was placed in custody, Officers also recovered a small plastic bag of a substance believed to be cocaine from his wallet.

Detectives responded and determined the firearm was a P80 Polymer Ghost Gun, that was equipped with a switch device that turns semiautomatic firearms into fully automatic firearms. The firearm had a black extended magazine, loaded with twenty-two .40cal rounds of ammunition and one round in the chamber, combining to a total of 23 rounds.

Christopher Rodriguez, 23, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a machine gun, illegal possession of ammuntion, possession of class B drugs and driving without a license, police say.
