Crowbar-wielding Dorchester ciggie stealer didn't get far because passing cops heard the alarm he triggered, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man they say used a crowbar to smash his way into a store at 338 Washington St. in Dorchester early Sunday.
Passing officers heard a burglar alarm going off around 2:15 a.m. and watched "the steel grates of the storefront rise and a masked suspect wielding a crowbar and fabric bag exit the store."
Other officers summoned to the scene then stopped and arrested Jose Torres, 63, just a few doors down at 306 Washington St., recovering the crowbar and "a fabric sheet rolled up, containing large quantities of various tobacco products including cartons of cigarettes and rolling papers."
Torres was charged with felony breaking and entering in the night time, malicious destruction of property over $1,200 and possession of a burglarious instrument.
Innocent, etc.

So punny it hurt @SwirlyGrrl
Why has "retirement mafia" become a thing? Burglary suspects are getting way older lately.
25-30 year sentences
Mid- to -Late 1990s saw a big priority on putting "career criminals" away for a solid 25 to 30 years when they were in their 30s.
So ... here we are on the other side of that.
