Man holds up Charlestown Whole Foods with an axe; on brutally hot day, he made off with some refreshing drinks, police say

Boston Police report arresting a man they say held up the Charlestown Whole Foods, 27 Austin St., around 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say Alan Badgett, 33, walked into the store, began waving around both an axe and a bottle of liquor - make unspecified - and told security he "could take whatever he wanted." And what he allegedly wanted on a day with a heat index approaching 100 while dressed from head to toe in black was some cooling refreshment: He made off with one juice bottle and "multiple water bottles" before running out, police say:

Two officers assigned to a paid detail on Main Street rushed towards Austin Street and were able to de-escalate the suspect. The detail officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect, and recovered an axe.

Badgett was arraigned on a charge of armed robbery this morning in Charlestown Municipal Court, where a judge ordered him held because he couldn't come up with $500 for bail.

Innocent, etc.

Sir, this is Stop & Shop behavior. Please refrain from behaving in this manner at Whole Foods and TJ’s.

They're not used to the heat.

This, combined with the other crazy crime stories coming out of Charlestown makes me nostalgic for the time when Charlestown was known for it's bank robbers and armored car thieves. The city felt safer then. /s

... and that's not what happened.
There wasn't any axe waving or holding up a bottle of liquor.
Just shit talking....
And cops filing a false police report and being racist.
There's also camera footage.
