The BPDA board last week approved plans for a two-building life-sciences complex at 66 Cambridge St. in Sullivan Square, an Orange Line stop away from where another developer says it will soon file detailed plans for a 700-unit residential complex. Read more.

UPDATE: Ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Boston Police report arresting Thomas Hickey, 49, of Charlestown, for a Nov. 30 bank robbery on Austin Street in which he allegedly pushed an elderly man who was in line before him out of the way at a teller window. Read more.

212 Austin St. fire damage in Hyde Park

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire that broke out around 10:05 a.m. at 212 Austin St. did an estimated $250,000 in damage.

The fire started in a rear enclosed porch in the two-family home.

New telephone poles in Hyde Park

Look how straight and tall and proud that new pole is.

Crews were busy along Austin Street in Hyde Park yesterday, throwing up these new, bigger, plastickier utility poles.

With any luck, when they're done, they'll take down the old poles, rather than just leaving them up like they've tended to do over the years.
