A disgusted citizen complains about noshers getting their fix at Boston Bagel Co.:

Bagel addicts double parking at this busy intersection. This is a public safety issue and somebody is going to get hurt trying to cross here.

Bagelville on the VFW Parkway, just past the Dedham line and the McDonald's, is now open, joining Brueggers and Panera Bread in stuffing West Roxburyians with round doughy goodness.

For our Jewish friends: The Bruegger's on VFW Parkway in West Roxbury has green plain bagels.

Coming soon: Bagels

One of the Boston area's rare failed Dunkin' Donuts is getting turned into a bagel shop - on VFW Parkway northbound just past the Dedham line.

The Bagelville outlet is being outfitted by the owners of the bagel stand at Faneuil Hall Marketplace - who promise fresh bagels baked daily, along with bagel-based sandwiches and smoothies.

The parkway is already home to a Bruegger's. The Spring Street Panera also sells bagel-like breadstuffs. In contrast, Roslindale has an awning over Bob's Pita Bakery that promises "Bagel."

The owner of Jimmies on Corinth writes she'd love to move into the old Select Cafe - or someplace else in Roslindale that's larger than her current location.

Oh, and don't worry we will get great bagels.

Roslindale Square resident Adam Kessel reports Brooklyn Water Bagels considered Roslindale Square for a new outlet but opted to open in Framingham instead because the area just doesn't have enough foot traffic to support one of its shops.

Retail chains considering urban areas such as Roslindale Village tend to want heavy foot traffic - unlike in suburbs such as Framingham, where they rely more on car traffic, he says.

The sandwich and baked-goods chain is building a new outlet at 3 Center Plaza, across from City Hall, which is good for certain City Hall denizens who are now forced to walk all the way over to High Street on the Greenway for their coffee, bagels and WiFi.

Unlike the High Street and Back Bay outlets, however, this will be a Panera Cares, where you pay only what you think you can afford:

Sooner or later, every single New Yorker who moves up here does what Tara Vuono did and ask:

Best bagels in/around Boston? (from an ex-NYer, and yes I know it's cliche to miss the bagels and pizza)

Wicked Local Brookline reports Kupel's faces disciplinary action after a February inspection found mouse droppings - "too many to count" - on raw dough in a refrigerator. Owner says he was shocked and fixed the problem.

Maybe it's a problem with lenders or something, but Whalehead King wishes somebody would open a bagel shop in Dorchester. Even better would be a kupel of them.

The Massachusetts Liberal offers proof that food prices are soaring:

... A baker's dozen at Kupel's in Brookline cost $6 for a seeming eternity. The last time I was in last month, the price had jumped to $7.49. Tonight, about three weeks later, it was $7.99 -- along with a note apologizing while blaming extraordinary increases in ingredients and transportation costs. ...

Jeff Egnaczyk pines for the egg bagels of his youth:

... Now I can never find them in supermarkets, grocery stores or chain bagel shops in my area of Brookline. That includes Stop 'N Shop, Trader Joe's, Bruegger's and Finagle A Bagel just within several blocks of my place. What's the deal? ...

Kupel's?
