2019 elections

Progressive West Roxbury/Roslindale is hosting a forum for multitude of candidates for the District 5 (Roslindale, Mattapan, Hyde Park) seat that Tim McCarthy is giving up this year.

The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. on May 23 at St. John Chrysostom Hall, 4750 Washington St. in West Roxbury.

The Boston Guardian reports the latest to get in the run to represent the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Bay Village, Fenway and part of Mission Hill is Kenzie Bok of Beacon Hill.

Zakim recently announced he would not seek re-election to the seat he's held since 2013.

The Globe reports that Josh Zakim (Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway, Mission Hill, Bay Village) won't be running for re-election this fall.

Zakim, first elected in 2013, joins Tim McCarthy (Hyde Park, Roslindale, Mattapan), who announced in January he wouldn't be running again.

Brandon Bowser

Brandon Bowser announced today he is running this fall for the District 9 (Allston/Brighton) city-council seat now held by Mark Ciommo.

Ciommo defeated Bowser in 2017 to retain the seat.

Ricardo Arroyo, whose father Felix D. Arroyo, and brother, Felix G. Arroyo, both served as at-large city councilors, announced today he's running for the District 5 (Hyde Park, Mattapan, Roslindale) council seat held by Tim McCarthy since 2013. McCarthy had no opposition in the 2017 election.
