A bankin is also a term used for snow pushed off to the side of the road or driveway into a pile.Example "I ran into a bankin during this last Nor'easter."

Isn't this term just a shortened version of the word "embankment"--a segment on either side of a road, or a river where the dirt is piled up higher?

I have a "bankin" in front of my house. This usually means a grade of land that rises from one area to another.
