In more rural parts, with bigger yards, piazzas often extend around 2 sides of the house, one side faces the road,(seldon used)the other faces your neighbor (always used).
My motha grew up in JP and she always says " Put it out on the "pee-yahza" It was the unheated closed in back porch at her Ahnt's house. That's where we stowah the tawnic and mixers that can't fit in the fridge.
In most areas of Rawxbry, the piazza was situated on the back side of the multi-storied houses, overlooking the gahbage shed and what plants could survive in the yahd.
