Man charged for attempted car break-ins in Roslindale; police say he tried to use a passport stolen in an earlier break-in as ID

Boston Police report arresting a man they say officers caught trying to break into cars in Roslindale early this morning - and say he's now a suspect in a skein of car break-ins and vehicle thefts in Roslindale and West Roxbury.

Police say that around 1:45 a.m., officers from both E-5 and the BPD auto-theft unit were patrolling the area of Cornell and Newburg streets when they spotted a potential suspect: A guy walking down the street trying door locks and making detours into several driveways.

When the officers and detectives stopped the suspect to speak with him, he provided them with a Russian Passport which they knew belonged to a victim of a recent motor vehicle break in the area several days prior. While continuing to speak with the suspect, it was confirmed that he was wanted on three outstanding warrants sought out of West Roxbury District Court, Malden District Court and Roxbury District Court on charges of Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of Class B Drugs and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Aaron Weil, 29, was then arrested for those charges and new charges of attempting to commit a crime - breaking and entering a motor vehicle - receiving stolen goods and trespassing, police say. Police add they are continuing their investigation into car breaks in the two neighborhoods.
