MBTA service-delay Mad Libs
At 6:40 a.m., the MBTA tweeted:
Red Line experiencing northbound delays of up to 15 minutes due to a
That was it, that was the whole tweet.
Which, of course, got some people wondering just how to finish that thought:
Medical emergency, signal problem, disabled train, police action, uh… whaat else is it usually uh..oh yeah, fire

heat buckling of the tracks as a result of completely unprecedented and unexpected prolonged 95 degree weather, in spite of the fact that it *is* summer, after all. Happy Friday!!

a wood stick on the tracks? Antiquated equipment? It's too hot? It's too cold?

More than an hour later, the T gave the correct answer:

These are the times I almost miss Twitter…
BRAVO!
And what was wrong with the disabled train this time?
Fire? Explosion? Runaway? Derailment? Hit another train? Broken emergency exit? Broken PA system? Hit a frog?
As a point of information,
one of the component pieces of a track switch - specifically, the part where one rail intersects the other one - is referred to as a frog.
So a dragging or loose piece of underbody equipment could indeed disable a train by hitting a frog.
OMG.
I hadn't thought of "frog" being used that way since model train days as a kid.
You are exactly right. The MBTA _could_ say that.
And this is why I love UH.

Can we spend some of the federal money on a pilot to teach mbta about times other than 15 minutes
I'd settle for being able to spend some of the Federal money
on routine maintenance and repair, instead of waiting for things to deterioriate to the point where large capital replacement projects are necessary.

Standard answer is always due to a Charlie Baker.
This is his legacy - make him wear it.
Oh, and I think it may finally be time to put together an initiative petition limiting all elected representatives and executives to a T-pass and mileage reimbursement/parking at the nearest station. If they want to drive in to the Statehouse? They can pay for it - and market rate parking - like the rest of the working public does. Be worth it just to see the squirming and send a message.
