Shakeup in women's hockey: All players on local team have their contracts voided

Boston Women Sports reports two investor groups, one headed by former tennis star Billie Jean King, have bought the Premier Hockey Federation and immediately ripped up all the contracts with players, including those on the Boston Pride, because apparently there are contracts and there are contracts.

The two investment groups also bought another women's hockey league, plan to merge the two and eliminate several teams, according to reports last night.

Dirty pool. Makes me wish that Bobby Riggs had won.

Riggs and King made a fortune on that match, they had the inside track on who was going to win.

for all of the women in the PHF who just signed contracts, relocated, quit jobs (as they were finally making enough from just playing hockey). The latest signs point towards the PHF going bankrupt, but they were still signing contracts yesterday.'

The new league won't have Boston, CT, or Buffalo as teams, which means no New England presence in a hockey league; absolutely ridiculous.

Thanks to to the Pride for the Back to Back Isobels they won, and for being a great fan experience.

Do you have a source reporting that those specific teams are being eliminated? Would like to know more.

Has anything an 'investment group' ever bought succeeded? Seems they just drive whatever into the ground and walk away with cash in hand and a smoking wreck in their wake.
