Two charged with early morning double shooting in Downtown Crossing

Boston Police report arresting two Dorchester residents on charges they opened fire on a couple of men on Summer Street, hitting one in the back, around 3 a.m. on July 25.

Police say officers arrived at 40 Summer St. to find a man shot in the back. Police found a second victim a short distance away at Summer and Arch streets.

Robert Mallard, 45, and Emily Mackey, 27, both of Dorchester, were arrested at 1000 Harvard St. in Mattapan yesterday morning, police say.

Mallard was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging a gun within 500 feet of a builidng, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a loaded firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say. Mackey was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police say.

A judge ordered Mallard held without bail until at least a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 6, court records show. Mackey had bail set at $5,000 but was ordered held because she could not make bail. Should she make bail, she will have to wear a GPS tracking device, records show.
