Boston Police report arresting a pair of East Boston teens on charges they tried to slice a guy up at the Government Center T stop around 4:20 p.m. today.
The victim, in his late teens or early 20s, was slashed in the arm, but is expected to survive.
Police charged Juan Chavez, 18, of East Boston, with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and affray. Another teen, 15, was charged with disturbing the peace and affray. Both will be arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court.
Channel 5 reports the fight started inside the T station, then spilled outside onto City Hall Plaza. Channel 7 reports the pair fled toward Downtown Crossing, where they were arrested.
Machetes seem to be a preferred weapon among Eastie thugs.

I was wondering why all those cops were swarming towards that group of people this afternoon. Figures that I just keep on walking when there's some real action going on.

How the hell do you walk around downtown, or get around on the T with a freaking machete?
You don't wear an evil backpack

That could get in the way of the handle sticking out of your pants and get you searched near a government facility, too.
Is that a machete or are you just glad to see me? [rimshot]

It is kind of interesting that, on the same day, two guys can apparently travel on the Blue Line with a three-foot long machete and not get detained, while two guys with a backpack find themselves in the middle of an armed squad at Logan.
They would have been better off with a machete

That way you can see they're not trying to hide anything suspicious.

The Herald raises the possibility and notes:
They also post a photo of the machete in question.
