Thunderstorm drives tree branch through trolley window, injuring 3

That big thunderstorm this morning pushed a tree branch through the windshield of a Mattapan trolley, injuring the driver and two passengers.

As you know, I'm a big fan of that little trolley line. Any news concerning it interests me.
That must have been one hell of a big branch, and one hell of a strong wind.

why was the train running at 1:15 AM?
Seemed odd that there were passengers on a train at 1:15 AM... what's with that? New extended summer hours?

That was the 7:55, slightly delayed.
Last train tends to run
Last train tends to run fairly late because they wait for other last trains.
As stated, the Mattapan
As stated, the Mattapan train waits for the last Ashmont train. The last Ashmont train waits at Park for the last Green train.
Thus, all lines have a last train starting its trip around 1am in one direction.
the terrifying part of that story, for a daily trolley rider...
"Both passengers were taken to Carney Hospital."
Indeed
It remains to be seen if they ever get home.
(Sorry. I shouldn't be making fun of people's injuries, but the Carney is too easy a target.)
