Maybe they average out to a Camry

Trike and Hummer

Target Pizza, at Washington and Grove in West Roxbury, used to just use that Hummer H2 on the left to deliver pizzas. Three or four weeks ago, it added a motorized tricycle.

Who would deliver pizzas in hummer even during decent gas price times? On the other hand the other vehicle looks fun to use. Does it have a horn?

Dunno if the new thing has a horn, but it does have police-style lights on top.

If it does have a horn, it should be one of those old-fashioned Harpo Marx type horns. And Peter Sellers should be the delivery guy.

...then it's in violation of the law, even if they're not using them.

There's a reason all those converted ambulances and whatnot have their lights either blacked out or replaced with clear lenses.

They're white. I was thinking of the strobe-y effect.

Forget about gas, even in the best of times gas wise a Hummer is hell to park, or double park without a hassle. At least the pizza gokart can pull into small places for a few seconds.

I wonder how well that buggy would handle tiny streets like the one that Third Decade lives on. Something the size of a Model T makes more sense.

My husband noticed several 50cc scooters in Cambridge with their racks modified to hold an insulated pizza box.

awesome!

I remember not too long ago reading an article about the hummer deliveries and the owner swore he wouldnt give it up or pass the cost onto his customers. I'm in favor of anything that makes the neighborhood look more like Richard Scarry's Busytown.

If I ever see a hummer pull up to deliver anything to my house it will be the last time I order from them.

I would also ask them if thats why their prices are so high... Hmmm 60,000 dollar car, 7 miles per gallon gas, high maitnence fees = expensive pizza. If Im going to pay a premium on pizza I want to spend the difference on toppings and better cheeses not paying for gas for a hummer.

I've never gotten anything there (if I'm at that corner, and need something right away, I'll probably go to either Viva Me Arepa - mmm, empanadas! - or Cafe Pomodoro).

But I was amused to look them up and find this map showing that it serves Germantown, since I don't think anybody's called it that in decades (even with the Deutsches Altenheim still there). If anything, the map should list the Grove (bonus fun fact: the Grove is the only part of Boston without sewer service; it also sits atop what used to be a volcano, and those two facts might be related, because of the nature of the ledge there).

"Germantown" shows up on certain mapping programs, like the Microsoft one they used, Mapquest, and probably others.

It's much like Newstead Montegrade in that way.

I don't think the pizza place chose to have Germantown listed on the map.

Didn't mean to sound like I think it did - hey, I know how online directories work :-).

The difference between Germantown and Newstead Montegrade is that the former used to be an actual geographic designation that people used - back in the days when lots of actual Germans lived along the West Roxbury/Dedham line (which is why the Deutsches Altenheim is where it is).

...for environmental reasons and conspicuous consumption reasons, it might actually be benefiting them financially. I mean, the stupid Hummer might serve as a gimmick to draw in more business, and it actually might make up for itself. Businesses don't always do best by going with the cheapest option in every area.

true and I read somewhere that small trucks get tax breaks where normal cars do not for small businesses. One of those crazy tax loopholes we never bothered to fix.
