If $100,000 is enough to keep you running for mayor, how much would get you to run for city council?

KenneallySam Yoon raised his $100,000 (and then some). Now comes Andrew Kenneally, who reports raising $11,675 in three weeks as he considers whether to run for an at-large city council seat. A press release from his nascent campaign says:

Kenneally's broad support comes from individuals from all sections of the city, as well as, organized labor.

Well, actually, it comes from out of town, too: 57% of the contributions are from non-Boston residents.

A West Roxbury native who now lives in East Boston, Kenneally has spent five years immersing himself in city affairs, first as chief of staff for Councilor Maura Hennigan, then as director of police and communications for Councilor Michael Flaherty.

Ask Boston City Council candidates how they will make more readily available the public documents of municipal government. For example, it's routine now to shunt enquiries for public City Council documents around, deflect, delay, deny. Officials enunciate principles of openness but flout the principles in practice.

Can you give a specific example of a document you've actually requested from the city council, and what happened when you asked for it?

Requests for the proposed Council Rules changes lacked any response.

I met Andy Kenneally when he was in graduate school at BU with my husband studying city planning. He used to work for Michael Flaherty, and I think he's a great candidate. I've never met someone so enthusiastic, and besides, I'd love to see a little more attention in East Boston's corner.

The only candidate I've heard of is this fellow named Doug Bennett. I live in Roslindale and Bennett came to my home a few months back canvasing the neighborhood. He's been working hard for a while and he's already been to my mothers in West Roxbury, my brother's in Southie, and my cousin's home in Hyde Park. I'm giving Bennett the bullet vote. Also, I came accross this impressive speech that Bennett gave I believe last week on youtube in which he railed against the Pike Hikes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk0M7DaBaDE
