Boston schedules walk-in flu and Covid-19 vaccination clinics

The Boston Public Health Commission today announced a series of free flu and Covid-19 vaccination clinics where you can just walk in and get a shot:
- Monday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., City Hall Room 801
- Thursday, Oct. 24, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., City Hall Room 115
- Tuesday, Oct. 29, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., BCYF Hyde Park Community Center
- Saturday, November 2, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., BCYF Mattahunt Community Center
- Monday, November 4, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., BCYF Paris Street Community Center
- Thursday, November 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., BCYF Curley Community Center

Magoo wonders whether Magoo should mask up again. This causes Magoo to think if Covid can be tested via Magoo and others’ poopies, can it be spread that way? And if Covid can be spread via Magoo’s and others’ poopies, should we all wear anal bum covers? Magoo.

You are okay unless you eat it or turn it into an aerosol and breathe it. So don’t do either. A mask should help in each scenario however.

Little too late for me
My neighborhood isn't scheduled yet, so that'd mid to late Nov. for me.
I don't usually get flu shots (did get Covid), but I just got over ... something. Made me have a conversation with myself about needing to get flu shots.
If your neighborhood isn't listed yet, you can usually get free ones from your local pharmacy. That may be because they charge your insurance??? and don't charge a co-pay. Check with them to clarify the fine print (there's always fine print). Also, if your pharmacy is in a supermarket, they might give supermarket coupons with the flu shot (and check the fine print on that too!! LOL!).

Sure. Another neighborhood would be fine.
But I don't have a car and don't want to deal with the time and distance the MDTA would take. Plus, probably long lines.
I booked at the Star Market in West Roxbury. They have a lot of open times this month. But Thank You.
Another tip for every one: remember flu and Covid shots can (ironically) make you feel very fluish the next day. So make sure you can stay home the day after your flu appointment.
CVS does
I recently got my flu shot at CVS last week. It was free, scheduled ahead of time, and they took me early; afterwards, they gave me a $5 off $20 purchase coupon to spend on a future visit.

And they give you a 10% coupon for your next shopping visit.
Absolutely true
Ever since I moved to West Roxbury, CVS has been my go-to for everything, and occasionally I'll slink down to Walgreens down the street if CVS doesn't have what I want.

The announcement on the city website doesn't say anything about having to go in your own neighborhood.
They do want you to bring your insurance card if you have one, but you don't need an insurance card, and you don't need to show ID. Since they're not asking for ID, they have no way of knowing that you don't live near the vaccine clinic location.
If you give them your insurance card, they'll bill the insurance company, and that helps the city pay for the vaccine clinics, but your cost -- free -- is the same whether or not you have insurance.
