So basically Verizon/Comcast are going to have to pay $100+/hour for an electrician to do low-voltage data work that a network tech could do just as well for at least half the price.
Hate to say it, but I'm with Verizon and Comcast on this one.
IBEW is not only electricians. Almost all of Verizon's techs in the Boston area are IBEW. There's a few CWA locals tossed in there for good measure, but a huge chunk of Verizon's workforce is IBEW.
