Wow, who knew both left and right could find common ground? And that ground is apparently the dirt on the shoe state Democratic Party honcho Phil Johnston is taking out of his mouth. Plus: Healey's Democratic Gang of Three.
On Blue Mass. Group, David says Johnston blew it:
No one seriously thinks Kerry Healey is a racist or a race baiter, and everyone would do well to accept Johnston's act of contrition and move along to talk about these issues - and the rest of them - on their merits.
Mark Mills: What was Phil Johnston thinking?
Jay Fitzgerald: The idea Johnston should resign is absurd:
He apologized. But he does have to watch what he says.
Bruce didn't expect the race card to come out for another week or so.
Hub Politics says Johnston should just get out the ritual seppuku sword now and sees a deliberate Demmie ploy to play the race card because they hope it will keep voters from seeing they really just want to raise taxes to let criminals and illegal aliens run amok (note: Hub Politics had earlier written that the real reason Patrick won the primary is because white liberals would have felt too guilty not voting for a black man).
Massachusetts GOP News says it's perfectly legitimate for Healey to point out policy differences between the two candidates and that Patrick should stop being such a pussy.
Adam Reilly provides the story behind state Rep. Gene O'Flaherty, state Sen. Steve Baddour and Suffolk DA Dan Conley lecturing Patrick on how he's too damn liberal. Reilly finds it funny that "Travelin' Gene" is lecturing Patrick on anything and explains why O'Flaherty is a hypocrite.
David at Blue Mass. Group declares O'Flahery the Zell Miller of Charlestown and brings up that whole thing about O'Flaherty, a defense lawyer, helping to water down a bill to go after drunk drivers. Also on Blue Mass. Group, Tom discusses the French kiss between the three Dems and Healey. Shai Sachs wonders who's more out of touch with lunchpail Democrats - Patrick or O'Flaherty? He notes that Patrick won Chelsea, which O'Flaherty represents. Piling on over at the Blue, Charley on the MTA says the real division isn't between conservative Democrats and liberals, but between hacks like O'Flaherty and Baddour and true reformers like Patrick.
Massachusetts GOP News says Tom Menino is deliberately letting people be murdered to try to get more state funds to buy votes.
